I received my MSW ( Masters in Social Work) in clinical social work from the State University of
New York at Stony Brook in 1980. I worked in a psychiatric hospital in New York as a psychiatric
social worker for 20 years. Some of my work involved clinical supervision of social work students.
I am fluent in the English and the Turkish languages.
I started my private practice in 1992. My specialties are, depression, anxiety, panic disorders;
grief and cultural issues. I work with individuals, couples and families.
My therapeutic attitude is accepting and non- judgmental . Some of the goals of therapy are
expression of emotions; identifying perceptions that are detrimental to emotional well-being and
understanding and changing behaviors so that they enhance life experiences and relationships.
Releasing the creative energy in us so as to engage in fulfilling and enriching activities is another
important goal of my work with clients.
